Forget Showbox, Popcorn Time is Back! [Update: Android TV Build Mostly Working Now]

Showbox is No longer...

Showbox has long been a quick way of watching my favourite Movies and TV Shows, it wasn't the best quality but it used to be reliable. It was useful to watch films but to also see what films have been released on the web to download - So if there was a Film I really want to see on there, I'd add into my CouchPotato (Download Automation) and download a decent copy using Torrents or Usenet.

The App went down and ofcourse there was a lot of worry when it came back up that it could potentially be comprimised by the FBI, it could all be rumours but I would stay away from it unless you have a reputable VPN provider.

Fear not, Popcorn Time is here for all your needs

Popcorn Time never really went away (unless you're counting the time where they got busted too!) but I thinks its dropped off the Radar for a lot of Users, now that you can't trust Showbox I would defintely recommend it as an Alternative.

The Development cycle for the Popcorn Time App has been slow to say the least, the Android TV Build is useless at the moment which is a shame because it worked really well. I'm hoping the Devs can get that sorted ASAP, I along with a bunch of others will be grateful!

The Android TV App is useless

Popcorn Time's latest build for Android TV crashes often, but check it out to see if you get better results than I did. The App had the Leanback layout that Android TV users are used to, which makes navigating menus and looking for Content really easy.

The best way I've found to watch Films and Shows on Popcorn Time is by using it on my phone alongside an App called AllCast which is chargable on the Play Store but so worth it! It allows you to cast to pretty much any device out there reliably unlike the built in Cast functions, it's useful if a Media Player app doesn't support Casting too.

I would highly recommend using a VPN when downloading or watching from any Apps like Showbox and Popcorn Time, otherwise you might get a letter from your ISP or maybe worse, If you're not comfortable with these Apps then go down the Usenet route - which isn't as userfriendly to setup but can be a lot safer. I'm writing an article on the best way to get this up and running in no time!

Don’t Make it easy for them…

This App is a must have for anyone with a Android Phone, there’s no other App that has this many films that’s made specifically for Android with high quality 720, 1080 and even 4K.

I can’t recommend this App without giving caution, it would be wise to only use this App with VPN as it is possible for your Internet Service Provider to view your internet traffic to find out exactly what Torrent's you’ve been downloading, they may penalise you with fines or cut your internet off completely!

I recommend using NordVPN, they’re the only VPN service I trust. You can save up to 40% with our affiliate link for NordVPN

NordVPN
Imagine VPN as a secure, encrypted tunnel for online traffic to flow. Nobody can see through the tunnel and get their hands on your internet data. NordVPN gives you peace of mind each time you use public Wi-Fi, access personal and work accounts on the road, or want to keep your browsing history to yourself.

Downloading the right version can be confusing

(Dev Download Page isn't working, I've added Mega Links!) New Build 170: lots of bug fixes, this also fixes Mi Box Users!

A fix for broken playback was released today on the 29/12/2018, The latest Movies still don't appear like they do for the Android Version and Navigation is still broken unless you use a Mouse - this is still great Progress, thank you to the Dev's for their continued Support.
