Introduction

If you're building a high-end home theater or gaming PC with an RTX 4090, you know the importance of a reliable HDMI 2.1 cable. The RuiPro MTD9TA promises to deliver uncompromised performance for 4K@120Hz and 8K@60Hz. But does it live up to the hype?

Design & Build Quality

The RuiPro MTD9TA features a braided nylon exterior that feels durable and premium. The connectors are gold-plated and have a solid, metallic housing. However, the cable is quite stiff, making it difficult to route in tight spaces. It's not ideal for wall installations or sharp bends.

Performance

I tested this cable with an RTX 4080 and a Sony A90J OLED. It passed every test with flying colors:

• 4K@120Hz HDR: Flawless, no flickering or signal dropouts.
• 8K@60Hz: Works perfectly, though limited content is available.
• 48Gbps bandwidth: Supports all HDMI 2.1 features including eARC, VRR, and ALLM.

Compared to a standard high-speed HDMI cable, the MTD9TA showed zero compression artifacts and maintained consistent signal integrity over 10 feet.

Compatibility

This cable is backward compatible with older HDMI versions, but you'll only see benefits with HDMI 2.1 devices. It works with:
